Independent Living
At the Altenheim, Independent Living means lovely surroundings, activity-filled days, a complete list of amenities, light-filled rooms, and the comfort that comes with a full continuum of care.
Supportive Living
The Altenheim provides Supported Living for our residents who need assistance with some activities: dressing, bathing, medication management, meals, laundry and housekeeping.
Respite care
A change of scenery is a nice break for an older person as well as the caregiver and also provides an opportunity to “try” the Altenheim before making a move-in decision.
Skilled Nursing Care
Our professional health care staff provides 24-hour licensed nursing care. Private and semi-private bedrooms are available.
Bavaria Memory Care
Bavaria Memory Care focuses on security and care for each individual we serve in order to provide your loved one with the highest level of life-enrichment and independence in a secure environment.
The Altenheim offers the comfort and convenience of home in a secure setting. The variety of weekly activities will assure that each resident is provided an opportunity for socialization and fun.
St. Louis Altenheim is a truly pleasurable experience and one full of choices. These include dining with friends, family, guests or neighbors in our beautifully appointed dining room, or hosting parties for friends and family members.
When dining at the Altenheim, residents are offered a variety of healthy menu items, meals designed for special health needs, and the chance for individual preference requests. Holiday, theme and birthday celebrations add variety and joy to the communal spirit at The Altenheim.
Wellness programs, including exercise, music and lectures on current topics are all part of promoting personal growth here at St. Louis Altenheim.
Some of our features include a library, activity room, hair salon, sitting rooms, and even a guest suite for out-of-town visitors. There are garden clubs, men’s clubs, movie clubs, day trips and computer classes.

Dining with a View
Dining at St. Louis Altenheim is everyone’s favorite part of the day. The spacious, elegant dining room is surrounded by windows, giving every table a view from the historic bluffs overlooking the Mississippi River. Residents and guests enjoy a perfect view of nature at every season.
Three delightful meals are served every day, and food is available anytime. During breakfast, lunch/dinner, and supper; residents can choose from a menu of delicious entrees, side dishes and desserts that changes daily as well as from our “Always Available” menu. Our professional wait staff provides unhurried, exceptional service. We also make every effort to respond to dietary restrictions and special requests with compassion and respect.
We are happy to take whatever steps needed to meet the dietary needs of every resident, while allowing for as much autonomy and freedom of choice as possible. Our staff will take the time to go over the daily menu options with residents and answer every question.
